What is Wrong with Congress?
Congress has completely forgotten their role as public servants. Congressional candidates like me start their careers in Capitol Hill with a lot of good ideas and desire to make a difference but they fall prey to power, money, and pressure from interest groups and senior Congressional Leaders. The more time an individual spends in Congress, the more disconnected from their voters they become. No wonder young voters are disenfranchised from the electoral process. So much so that young voters participation in the electoral process has fallen 5% since 2018 (https://circle.tufts.edu/2022-election-center). The slogan, “Let’s drain the swamp” used in previous Presidential elections has done little to rid of individuals who have been in Congress more than a decade. Reality is that The power to drain the swamp belongs to the voters. For that reason, I am appealing to the entire Nation to vote out all incumbent politicians in Congress. Voting everyone out in Congress will positively change the course of our country, will disrupt interest groups (like the ultra-rich), and will return the power to the people.
In 1951, Congress felt the Office of the President was too powerful and adopted term limits for the President. Curiously enough, Congress has not adopted term limits for themselves. Why? Let’s be frank. No member of Congress wants to leave their powerful position willingly, especially when their position in Congress most likely will make them millionaires. (https://ballotpedia.org/Changes_in_Net_Worth_of_U.S._Senators_and_Representatives_(Personal_Gain_Index). For that reason, THIS Congress would NOT want to impose term limits on themselves. They are too entrenched, comfortably being supported by lobbying interest groups. Our only hope for real change is to send home all 465 Congressional incumbents up for reelection this year.
Hello, my Name is Jose (Joe) Dieppa and I am running for Congress. I have dedicated all my adult life to the service of others and when I retired from Federal Service (after 31 years of faithful service) , I envisioned a leisurely life traveling and enjoying life like every other retiree in Florida. One issue kept me awake at night, the future of my country. And two weeks ago (March 13, 2024) , after much consideration, I decided to do something. I developed a plan for a the new Congress and to bring the United States into the 21st Century. Rest assured, I am NOT A POLITICIAN! And I don’t intend to become one. My political career will be short. As a believer in term limits, I will only run for Congress for a maximum of two terms; enough to plant the seed of change in Congress and to keep me grounded as a human being. My plan is to return the power to the people but I cannot take on Congress by myself. I need your help achieving the following goals:
